  • John K. Cowell, PhD, received a 5-year, $1.4M R01 grant from NIH/NCI for โ€œGenetic analysis of myeloproliferative disease.โ€The major goals of this project are to (1) define the genetic changes associated with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) development associated with myeloproliferative disease, (2) determine why the BCR-FGFR1 fusion gene produces a more aggressive incurable disease, and (3) use a proteomics approach to define targets of the fusion kinases in the development of AML.
