Harrison Scholar Conducting Cancer Research: Blake Vander Wood

Blake 1Blake Vander Wood was among those presenting posters at the 7th Annual Medical Scholars Research Day.  Working in the Maihle Laboratory on the receptor tyrosine kinase EGFR, which is involved in regulating growth, differentiation and proliferation of a variety of cell types, Blake is a 2nd-year medical student who has been honored as a Harrison Scholarship recipient in recognition of outstanding intellect and leadership potential.  The Harrison Scholars Program was made possible by a $66 million gift from the late Dr. J. Harold Harrison.  Initiated with the MCG Class of 2018, there are currently 18 Harrison Scholars at GRU.
